Let's Take a Closer Look at the Ingredients in Amelia Cookies
At Amelia, our passion is providing dogs with treats and cookies that are minimally dipped and truly beneficial to your dog's health. Excess sugar and preservatives can add up quickly, and your dog's health may suffer for it. That's why we make our cookies with only the best local ingredients, each with its own benefit. Our Amelia cookies often have only 7 main ingredients- and we have been keeping it that simple and nutritious for the last 19 years & counting.
1. Organic Spelt Flour
Spelt is an ancient grain that has been cultivated by humans for centuries without much processing or change. These ancient grains are often healthier than other cereals like wheat and soy because of this lack of modification. Grains have a unique variety of amino acids, vitamins, and minerals that other foods don't offer. Adding organic spelt flour to our cookies ensures the perfect crunch while not taking away from the nutritional value of the cookie. Spelt is highly digestible for dogs and offers a great variety of B vitamins and the mineral manganese.
2. Scotch Oatmeal
Much like Spelt, oats are an ancient grain with minimal processing and therefore maximum benefits for your dog's health. Oats are filled with nutrients, including B vitamins as well as zinc, iron, manganese, and copper. Folic acid and biotin in Scotch Oatmeal is a great supplement for skin and coat health, and oatmeal's high fiber content will help keep your dog's gut happy.
3. Millet Meal
Millet meal is incredibly easy to digest and adds a nice texture to our cookies when baked. This makes our cookies great for the body and even better for the teeth. Millet also provides a high amount of phosphorus which is required for healthy teeth and bones.
4. Parsley & Rosemary
One of the safest and most natural ways to freshen your dog's breath is by adding parsley or rosemary into the diet. As herbs in the mint family, parsley and rosemary offer a fresh taste and vitamins A, C, and K.
5. Bone Broth
Bone broths is an incredible superfood and adds the great flavours to our various Amelia cookies and treats. Bone broth is the result of cooking bones with herbs and spices, making it highly nutritious and packed with vitamins and minerals. Bone broths are also a great source of collage and glucosamine, perfect for your pup's hips and joints. Our bone broths are made in-house.
6. Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Purees
Fresh fruits and vegetables are pureed fresh for each batch of cookie we make, which means your dog will get the most out of farm-fresh goodies. Fruits and veggies like carrots, blueberries, green beans, and bananas offer a huge variety of vitamins and minerals, as well as a high amount of fiber and a low amount of fat. These purees will also sport a great amount of antioxidants for boosted health.
7. Farm-Fresh Eggs
Eggs are an incredibly nutritious source of healthy fats much, much more. Eggs are nearly 100% digestible, so are a great addition in terms of healthy protein for dogs. Our eggs are farm-fresh and add a great amount of texture to our Amelia cookies.

My experience ranges from hobby breeding and pet keeping to scientific research in the agricultural industry. At home, I’ve cared for cats, rats, hamsters, mice, freshwater aquariums, geckos...and even an axolotl! My job of researching pet care will never end and I hope to share it with all of our Amelia readers.
